As you plan your Gender Odyssey weekend — especially when booking travel — keep in mind that, in addition to workshops, the conference features many exciting evening events! We strongly recommend that you plan to attend the entire weekend, from Thursday afternoon through Sunday evening, to get the best bang for your buck.

By developing our own knowledge and consciousness, we as white allies will be better able to participate in working toward social equity for all.  This workshop was developed in dialogue with the Gender Odyssey People of Color Advisory Council in the spirit of collaboration, respect, and unity of purpose. White allies want to conscientiously and ethically participate in shared leadership and advocacy roles, and this workshop will provide the opportunity and tools to better understand why and how.

Our opening evening party will provide conference attendees a chance to meet each other and socialize. Join our Gender Odyssey Family conference hosts for mingling, some children’s activities. and a chance to preview the program book. Welcome to Gender Odyssey! Our opening night party will provide conference attendees, as well as people from the local community, a chance to have fun and socialize. Network with GO Professional attendees and share your personal stories. Grab a cocktail, start with an appetizer, and/or have dinner. You’ll meet new folks and, if you’ve attended in the past, have a chance to connect with old friends, too. We’ll have two private pool tables and lots of space to hang out. Don’t miss it!

4:50 PM Keynote | The New Wave of Activism: Parents of Trans Children – Panel

For parents, once we settle into the journey of supporting our trans and gender-diverse children, some of us are drawn to take our Parent Bear passion and tenacity into a more public realm. Perhaps what began as an effort to protect the rights of your individual child has now lit your activist fire and you’re ready to fight for all trans kids. Where do you go from here? How can you get more involved? Hear from our panel of parents who felt the pull of activism and have been championing trans rights for our kids as well as the larger trans community.

Celebrate! Enjoy cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks at the no-host bar, and taste the delicious hors d’oeuvres. Featuring Procedures for Entering Enclosed Spaces: When the world around us seems so scary and dangerous, how can we stay true to ourselves and maintain a sense of security and self-love? In a collaboration between Darius X and Flynn Bickley this exhibit presents to the viewers a series of dioramas with instructions for self-preservation.

Come and schmooze with a number of trans and allied authors and celebrate their recently published books. Copies of their books will be available and can be personally autographed for you!

Drop the kids off for supervised movie time and popcorn and enjoy dinner with new friends or join other GO attendees at our Storytelling event. This is your time to connect with other parents for camaraderie and support. Parents must pick children up no later than 10:00 pm.

Join us at our 2nd annual storytelling event, where you’ll hear six people share their true personal stories related to “Belonging.” This event is open to all ages; however, stories will not be censored and parental discretion may be advised for younger children.

This is not your mother’s idea of a wholesome night out! This year’s Gay City Pub Crawl is for folks who are interested in trans/gay/bi men. From the seasoned pro to the newbie in gay culture, you’ll get a tour of Seattle’s gayest, hippest clubs and gain an opportunity to learn more about gay male culture than we dare write about. All are welcome! Meet up at the Silver Cloud by 10:00 PM!
