Dr. Kathy Hsiao is a pelvic surgeon who champions fertility, reproductive rights, and pelvic health for the LGBTQ* communities. She has lectured at WPATH, USPATH, Gender Spectrum, and the UCSF National Transgender Health Summit. A founding member of the American Society of Gender Surgeons, Dr. Hsiao served as the Chief of Gynecology at CPMC in San Francisco for several years. and teaches Minimally Invasive Pelvic Surgery as an associate clinical professor at the University of California at San Francisco and serves on the UCSF Center of Excellence for Transgender Health Medical Advisory Board. She testified as a pelvic surgeon and medical expert witness for the May 2014 landmark federal appeal of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Medicare NCD 140.3 for transgender affirming surgery, which led to Medicare and then national insurance coverage of gender affirming surgery.
